Michele was born in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania . She attended American University , the College of William and Mary, and the University of Pittsburgh as an undergraduate. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh where she had a 4.0 grade point average and was on the Dean's List. She received her law degree from the University of Georgia and her LL.M. in Health Law from the University of Houston . Additionally, she obtained certification as a Licensed Health Care Risk Manager in the State of Florida . Michele has been in private practice in both Georgia and Florida , specializing in the areas of insurance defense, medical malpractice, and health care. She has also served as a law clerk for the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. Michele has coauthored articles that appeared in law reviews and professional journals. She is married with two sons and is active in her children's school and in the Boy Scout program.
