Kent is a native Floridian, born in Sanford, Florida.  He received his undergraduate degree, with honors, from the University of Florida in 1992.  He subsequently earned his Juris Doctorate, also with honors, at the University of Florida College of Law in 1995.  As an undergraduate he was active in the Phi Alpha Delta and Pi Kappa Phi fraternities, a member of the Golden Key Honor Society as well as Savant UF, an organization established to recognize those students who attained a high standard of leadership in collegiate activities and outstanding service to the University of Florida and the surrounding community. While a law student, Kent served as Class Representative in 1993 and Vice President in 1994.  He was a member of the John Marshall Bar Association, an Executive Member of the Council of Ten and a Teaching Fellow, Legal Research and Writing. In 2007 Kent was awarded the Leadership Award by Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc.   In 2008, he was again awarded the Leadership Award, in addition to receiving the WOW! Trainer of the Year Award.  In 2010 Kent was recognized by The Florida Bar for his outstanding pro bono service. Kent was appointed to The Florida Bar Prepaid Legal Services Committee in 2010.  In 2011, he served as the Program Chair for the Committee’s Annual Continuing Legal Education Program which was presented at the Annual Florida Bar Convention. In 2011, Kent was appointed chair of the Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. WOW! committee, and he was the 2011 recipient of the WOW! Committee Chairman Award presented by LegalShield.   He is admitted to practice before all Florida state courts.
